Smoothies are great for breakfast, lunch, or post-workout. This Cherry Vanilla Kefir Smoothie is the perfect blend of wholesome goodness. Tastes like cherry vanilla ice cream.

Probiotic-rich, creamy smooth, with a harmonious fusion of cherries and figs. You may also like this cottage cheese smoothie recipe.

This nutrient-packed kefir shake is thick and rich. Infused with the sweetness of cherries and figs, along with the vanilla flavoured kefir, makes the most satisfying high protein cherry vanilla smoothie for any time of day.

Do you love smoothies? We sure do. It’s such a great way to pack so much nutrition into a glass. Perfect for taking “on the run”, or if you are like me, sitting at my computer while I write this post.

Getting your daily requirement of fruits and veggies for some people can be a challenge. I love having a pile of fresh-cut, crisp veggies to scoop up hummus. Perfect for taking to lunch, and awesome as appetizers too. However, some days I need a little extra help fitting all those healthy nutrients into my day. Smoothies make this so easy to do.

    Kefir Smoothie Ingredients

    • Fresh figs
    • Kefir
    • Cherries
    • Oatmeal
Fresh figs and a bowl of frozen cherries.

Have you ever tried recipes with kefir? It is highly nutritious and comes in a variety of flavours. I prefer it to buttermilk, and it works so well in things like kefir oatmeal pancakes.

You can even make Healthy Kefir Popsicles for a nutritious treat. Great for hot summer days and after school. Kids love them, and they don’t even realize they are eating healthy!!

Kefir is a great replacement for yogurt or milk, especially in making delicious smoothies and shakes.

Cherry Vanilla Kefir Smoothie Is Easy To Make

All you need is a great blender. Full instructions are in the recipe card below.

    • Pop all the ingredients into the blender.
    • Blitz until smooth.
    • Smoothie is ready to drink.

Creating different smoothie combinations is easy and so delicious. Sometimes I make a smoothie using things up in the fridge. Other times I experiment with flavours to see what happens, like in my Hemp Chocolate Smoothie.

If you are looking for a plant-based recipe, this hemp heart smoothie is a great alternative. Clean, green, and vegan friendly. Diary-free and gluten-free too.

The great thing is that you can use fresh or frozen fruits and veggies. However you make them, smoothies can fill you up, cool you down, provide nutrition, all in a glass!! Easy to make, fun to drink, with endless flavours so you will never get bored.

    Suggestions/Recipe Tips

Kefir is such a nutritious ingredient to add to recipes. It comes in plain and flavoured. I used vanilla, but coconut would be delicious too. You can always use dairy or non-dairy yogurt and milk.

Fresh figs are one of my favourites. If they are not available, you can always toss in 2-3 dried figs. They are super sweet.

Cherries are always expensive, so I opted for frozen cherries. They blend up nicely and make the drink nice and cold. You can always substitute any frozen fruit you like.

Oatmeal adds nutrition and a little bulk to the smoothie. Hemp seeds or chia seeds work well too.

Fresh figs are so good….and oatmeal adds some substance to the smoothie for sure.

I definitely need a better blender–and a smoothie like this. I adore kefir and will have to look out for vanilla bean–my favorite flavor. I’m guessing your blender grinds up the oatmeal so fine, you don’t even know it’s in there. Terrific idea!

Yummy! This brings so many childhood memories. We used to have plain kefir almost daily with dinner and sometimes our parents would let us add some of the granny’s cherry conserve to sweeten it up a bit. I really need to try your recipe, sounds delicious 🙂

I do love smoothies! And I love cherries and figs, too! I actually have never tried Kefir, but I think I should. It didn’t even dawn on me that it could be used in pancakes like buttermilk. Totally picking some up at the store this weekend.

I agree, having gone through so many lousy blenders, it’s so important to invest in a really good quality one. Kefir is a wonderful probiotic, and this sounds so refreshing – I love that you used figs in this.
