Tropical Pineapple Mango Salsa is vibrant and refreshing. The exotic tropical flavours are perfectly balanced.

Grilled pineapple, juicy mango, and a touch of Jamaican rum create a delightful Caribbean fruit salsa. Great as a summer appetizer. Perfect for fish tacos.

Fresh fruit is so delicious. Simple ingredients that pack a flavour punch. Berry season is my favourite by far. If you have never tried strawberry salsa with feta, you are really missing out. The perfect summer appetizer that doubles as a dessert too.

Have you tried grilled fruit? If not, you are in for a treat. Fresh fruit cooked on the bbq is so easy and delicious, exploding with a sweet, juicy, and smoky flavour.

Stuffed Avocado Boats make the perfect appetizer. For grilled fruit desserts, Balsamic Strawberries, Grilled Plums, and Smoked Apples are great choices.

If you have been to the Caribbean, you know all the wonderful flavours the islands have to offer. That fresh, juicy, sweet fruit is so inviting. This easy salsa recipe is the closest I can get to exotic island flavours.

    Pineapple Mango Salsa Ingredients

    • grilled pineapple
    • mango
    • red pepper
    • ginger juice
    • rum
    • lime juice
    • salt

Be sure to check out the recipe suggestions below.

Grilled pineapple for the tropical salsa recipe.

Making This Tropical Fruit Salsa Is Easy

This chunky salsa is so easy to prepare. The hardest part is prepping the fruit (if you call that hard). Full instructions are in the recipe card below.

    • Grill and dice the pineapple.
    • Dice the mango and peppers.
    • Add all the ingredients to a bowl, combine and you are done.

Mangos have always been sort of a mystery to me. I know they come in different varieties, and from my Jamaican friends, I am told some are way better than others. The mystery to me has been “how do you get the pit out”?

Mangos, pineapple and red peppers for making salsa.

    Suggestions/Recipe Tips

Pineapple can be grilled, or raw. I prefer the texture and flavour of the grilled pineapple in this summer salsa recipe.

Fresh mangos are so delicious. Frozen mangos are a great alternative.

Diced pepper can be red, yellow or orange. If you are not a fan of peppers, you can leave them out.

What is ginger juice? Super easy to make. All you have to do is grate fresh ginger using a microplane. Collect the pulp and squeeze. Fresh ginger juice in seconds.

Rum can be any variety you like. White or amber will work. I used Jamaican rum.

Leftovers will last for several days in the fridge. Best if kept in a sealed container. Alternatively, you can freeze this tropical salsa for up to 2 months. To use, thaw in the fridge. The texture will be softer, and the flavours will be milder. Perfect for adding to yogurt, pancakes, waffles and ice cream.

Serve this refreshing summer salsa as an appetizer with nacho chips. The perfect salsa for fish tacos. A great addition to any chicken, seafood or pork dish.

This homemade tropical salsa is sure to please. The fusion of flavours will make you feel like you are in the Caribbean. A must for summer parties.

    Notes

You don’t have to grill the pineapple for this recipe, you can use as is. Grilling brings out the sweetness. Also grilling works for people who are sensitive to eating raw pineapple (like my husband).

Once you see how it is done, it really is not that hard. That being said, until I watched a pro do it…I had no clue.

I absolutely adore exotic fruits – mangos are probably my favourite! I always cut around the pit because I don’t have one clue how to do it any other way ha! I like your cheeky addition of rum to this recipe, think it would definitely work with some pork! Thanks for the recipe!

I grew up in Florida so I am sort of the opposite – I had all the fresh oranges and grapefruit and even bananas at my disposal but LONGED for fresh cherries and such. We’d often get fresh peaches from Georgia, but I could never get enough.

And my friend is Trinidadian, and she has a poem about peeling a mango with nothing but her teeth 🙂 Though I honestl ynever thought getting the pit out of a mango was hard unless it wasn’t ripe, and then, well, I shouldn’t have bothered anyway lol.

But mango and pineapple together – that’s just sunny heaven in a bowl 🙂 Beautiful!

I haven’t tried this particular salad but I’m already tasting it. I love mango and I love pineapple — it’s already a win. I can taste it with seafood or chicken. YUM!! Adding a side like this to meat just makes the entire meal special. Fruit was very expensive growing up — we didn’t have the variety that we do now. Aren’t we fortunate? This salsa is on my to make list.

Oh wow Gloria! You are so lucky to have grown up with such ready access to an orchard. Nothing beats fruits and veggies picked straight from the source. My parents now live out in the country and have a garden full of blueberry bushes and lots of veggies. They also live near the apple and peach orchards so it’s always nice to get to experience these flavor packed ingredients when I go for a visit. As you pointed out, the flavor is so much more intense and the fruit is all the more juicy. As far as tropical fruit is concerned, I was fortunate enough to experience the most amazing pineapples, passionfruit, mangoes and papayas when I was living in Kenya. . . and it was so inexpensive too!!! Now back in Boston, I’m lucky if I even find a passionfruit and if I do I surely will need to take out a small mortgage to pay for it.

This salsa looks so lovely. I love a good fruit based salsa and it is so versatile, making the perfect dip for tortilla chips, topping for salads, fish, and chicken.
