This spiked eggnog recipe is a holiday classic and a party favourite. Move over Starbucks, this is the best spiced eggnog coffee. It pairs perfectly with my Christmas croissant recipe.
Are you in the holiday spirit yet? My family is already drooling thinking about Christmas morning sandwiches, our family tradition for decades. Now the grandkids request them too.

Suggestions / Recipe Tips
Did you know you can make a latte with instant coffee? I know the coffee fanatics may not think this is ideal. This is a great way to enjoy lattes at home without an espresso machine.
TIP: I even make lattes with strong, bold coffee too. Do you have a Keruig? You can make espresso on demand.
Now, when making that frothy topping, I use a hand-held milk frother. It works like a charm.
Coffee with eggnog is a great pairing for the holidays. For this recipe, I used store-bought eggnog. I look for the creamiest version I can get my hands on. Yes I know, all the extra calories but it is the holidays. Feel free to use a light version if you like. If you make homemade eggnog, bonus points to you!
Need a dairy-free version? Look for non-dairy egg nog like Silk Festive Nog, or Earth’s Own Oat Nog.
Best Alcohol For Spiked Coffees
This is where you can have LOTS of fun. Making a different eggnog latte drink by switching up the alcohol. Of course, it is perfectly fine to have non-alcoholic eggnog lattes too (remember do not drink and drive).
Some great things to add to eggnog are:
- brandy
- cognac
- bourbon
- vodka
- whiskey
- rye
- rum (white, dark, or spiced)
What is the best amount of alcohol to add to your latte? Most times it is 1 to 2 ounces per drink. It depends on the size of the latte and also the variety of alcohol you are using. This is a personal preference, so I will leave it to you to find the amount that works best for you.
I even have a Boozy Bourbon Iced Coffee you may like to try. If you love the combination of chocolate and coffee, you will want to give this Chocolate Coffee Martini a try too. Just like dessert in a glass.
Looking for some great food gifts? Check out this Edible Gifts for Christmas roundup. You won’t want to miss the Boozy Bourbon Fudge recipe. It is ALWAYS a holiday hit.
You can never go wrong with popcorn balls on the treat tray. These white chocolate covered popcorn balls look like snowballs trimmed with holiday sprinkles.

I love a good eggnog cocktail, but 8 shots of espresso will have me bouncing off the walls for a week!! Would it be better to reduce everything or replace part of the espresso with water?? Or should I just pick up decaf and keep the ratios the same??
Homemade & Yummy
OMG I had to go back and check the recipe. I am using instant espresso for the coffee (instead of fresh), so the recipe is actually for 8 ounces of coffee (like a cup of strong coffee). Sorry to make it confusing. Hope this helps. Use whatever strong coffee you like. The ratio of coffee to eggnog is also personal preference. I used the ratio of 8 ounces of coffee to 6 ounces of eggnog because that is the way we like it. Feel free to make your own ratios.
