Shopping List Ingredients
You only need 3 things!
- plain yogurt
- instant espresso powder
- cocoa powder
I got this idea after tasting a store-bought version. You will be amazed at how easy it is to make.
You can use any kind of yogurt you like. For this recipe I used Skyr. Greek yogurt would work well too. If you like, you could even use a vanilla flavoured too.
You can use any type of *(affiliate) instant espresso powder you like.
No problem. Decrease the amount of espresso and cocoa powders. Add to your individual container, mix and enjoy.
If you have ever tasted the Vietnamese yogurt coffee drink called Sua Chua Cafe, you know how delicious yogurt in coffee can be. Now, switch it up and put coffee in yogurt.
Making Mocha Coffee Yogurt At Home
This recipe is super easy to make.
- Measure all the ingredients into a bowl.
- Mix.
- Eat.
This is a quick and delicious way to enjoy coffee and yogurt for breakfast. Perfect for lunch, or a snack too.
You can easily adjust the mocha flavour by increasing or decreasing the amount of espresso powder and cocoa powder you use.
What Is Skyr?
A super thick, high protein, low-fat yogurt. Classed as a fresh sour milk cheese, it is made with skim milk.
A traditional Icelandic breakfast would be mixing equal amounts of Skyr and porridge (oatmeal). It can be mixed with fruit as a healthy dessert option. I have used it in place of sour cream too.
Add-Ins
Plain yogurt is tart for sure. I like it, but hubby does not. I find the vanilla flavoured is the perfect sweetness for me.
To make it sweeter you can add a bit of:
- honey
- maple syrup
- coconut sugar
- agave nectar
I find just the addition of FRESH BERRIES will also sweeten things up. You can add:
- strawberries
- blueberries
- raspberries
- blackberries
It doesn’t have to stop with berries. Other fruit will work too. Try some of these:
- bananas
- mango
- peaches
- nectarines
- pineapple
- apples
- pears
- fresh figs
If you haven’t been shopping, and fresh fruit is not in the house, you can use frozen fruit (although I find frozen is more tart). If that doesn’t work, add some:
- dried figs
- dates
- a bit of any type of fruit jam
Homemade granola is THE BEST!! Healthy Granola Cherry Almond Mocha recipe is the perfect topping here. It will add another level of delicious coffee flavour.
For another topping idea try this Easy Muesli Recipe. If you are in the holiday season Festive Crunchy Granola is a great choice.
Seriously I have eaten this coffee yogurt for breakfast, lunch, and as a snack. It also makes as a healthy dessert option. When healthy tastes this good, you can indulge all you like.
Start your morning with coffee in your yogurt. Mocha Coffee Yogurt is easy, healthy and delicious. Mix up a batch and have it all week long. Just scoop into a bowl, add some toppings and ENJOY!

Coffee and a parfait all in one? This is my kind of recipe! My favorite yogurt depends on the mood, but I’ve been really enjoying Vanilla Greek yogurt lately, it’s got a really good flavor and consistency. Have you tried chia in your yogurt? it’s something new that I’ve found that’s really good!
Homemade & Yummy
Chai would be excellent as well…thanks I will give it a try.

Breakfast is one meal that I skip the most knowing that it is the most important meal of my day. I really should start taking inspiration from such great tasting yet simple to make recipes to get myself into the breakfast routine. I am a coffee lover and love yogurt more than anything else in the world. This will work great for me!
Homemade & Yummy
Yes I too will often skip breakfast….but when it is this…it is much easier not to skip for sure.

I love coffee mixed with anything! I tried a coffee yogurt at the store and it was nasty but this? I could do this. Looks and sounds fantastic!

With flavors like this, yogurt can make such a wonderful and indulgent dessert that’s as satisfying as ice cream but makes you feel much better after eating it.
Homemade & Yummy
Totally agree with you…ice cream is deadly!!

We are completely hooked on that Skyr yogurt – it’s super thick and creamy! This recipe is so simple; I can’t wait to try it. I think it will make a great addition to a backyard summer Sunday brunch. 🙂

Icelandic yogurt happens to be my favorite Gloria. It is far milder than Greek yogurt and not slimy like the once-upon-a-time traditional yogurt we used to find flooding the shelves. And I completely agree with you that yogurt is one of those foods that can easily trick the mind into thinking that you are having dessert when in fact you are eating something healthy. I generally go for plain yogurt and doctor it up with fresh fruit and cinnamon but I love how you used the cocoa and espresso powder for a nice chocolate-y fix.
Homemade & Yummy
I am totally hooked on this flavour combination. Skyr is so good.

I am so totally into coffee and chocolate! What a great way to enjoy the taste and yet get all of those good vitamins and bacteria into our system. If I have that for breakfast I now only get my nutrition but my coffee fix! Now that is a win-win all the way around.
Homemade & Yummy
HAHAH…yes you can’t go wrong with win-win.

Oh this really does look delicious Gloria! I am totally addicted to coffee but never thought to add it to yogurt. I make my own yog in the Instant Pot so I have plenty to play with each week. I would also have it with that lovely granola and fresh berries too
