Can you believe it has been 1 month since Christmas? The holidays seem like so long ago. How are your resolutions going? How many have you kept so far?
Healthy eating topped the list for many people, including us. After all those holiday treats, getting some proper nutrition was the number one priority to tackle.
Speaking of treats, we JUST FINISHED the last of the baking. No wonder it seemed like I was in the kitchen forever before the holidays. Although hubby is sad to see it come to an end, calorie wise I am happy it is finally gone.
FINDING THE BALANCE
Getting back into a “normal” routine after the holidays was great too. However, it still seems like everyone is busy from morning to night. Working, school, extra activities, take up so many hours in the day.
Trying to find the time to workout can be a challenge. I know for myself I actually have to schedule it into my day, or it just doesn’t happen. Even when I do, something can change my plans…for instance shovelling SNOW….like today.
I will admit I do not love to exercise. Knowing the health benefits is what keeps me motivated. Would I rather run on the treadmill than shovel? YES!!!

The pairing of berries and chocolate is always delicious. This smoothie is packed with raspberries and pomegranates. Adding nutrition is easy and delicious, not to mention all the health benefits that come from consuming berries.
The chocolate milk provides enough sweetness, but if you are like my husband, he will always add a bit of honey or agave nectar.
You can use fresh or frozen raspberries, either will work fine. One time I managed to find frozen pomegranate seeds. What a treat that was. You can peel/seed them yourself, or if you are like me, buy them already done.
BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU EAT
Some people are great at eating healthy ALL the time. That takes dedication for sure. In our house, we try to eat healthy, yet enjoy some of the other tasty options that are available.
If we have pizza on the weekend, making sure we have healthy meals during the week helps balance out the good with the “not so good”.

Things you can use to make this recipe:
Hemp Chocolate Smoothie with Raspberries & Pomegranates
- 2 cups chocolate milk
- 1 1/2 cups raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- 3/4 cups pomegranate seeds (fresh or frozen)
- 1 1/2 tsp cocoa
- 1/4 cup hemp hearts
- agave nectar to sweeten (optional)
Place all ingredients into a blender.
Blend until smooth.
