How To Make A Hemp Heart Green Smoothie
It doesn’t get easier than throwing everything in a blender. Blitz, pour, and drink! Easy as 1-2-3. So much nutrition with really no effort.
For this clean and green hemp super smoothie, I combined:
- spinach
- apples
- strawberries
- hemp hearts
- water
- ice
Spinach is such an awesome green superfood, and it makes this low-calorie smoothie such a nice colour.
Fibre from the apple, sweetness from the strawberries, and plant-based protein from the hemp hearts make this simple smoothie recipe great for any time of day. You won’t believe how calorie-wise it is too. Green smoothies are GREAT for weight loss!
Even my hubby who LOVES (and I mean LOVES) sweet stuff didn’t even need any additional sweetener. He is such a dessert person. Thank goodness my breakfast banana split keeps his sweet tooth at bay.
Best Greens For Smoothies
This is where you can have some variety. I used spinach but don’t stop there. Other great options would be:
- kale
- Swiss chard
- romaine lettuce
- beet greens
- collard greens
- celery
You can also switch out the fruit in this wholesome smoothie recipe. Any type of berry is great. Try swapping out the apples for pears.
Hemp Benefits
Have you tried hemp hearts? Little nutritious gems packed with protein. A great way to get an energy boost.
Easy to add to recipes or just eat as a snack on their own. They come in a variety of flavours too.
They contain omega 3, omega 6 (GLA), fibre, protein, arginine, phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamin E, and magnesium.
Do Hemp Hearts Have CBD?
No, they do not. CBD lives in the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant, not in the seeds. Hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil, which contains cannabinoids.

Love a fresh smoothie that is packed with protein and greens and is not too sweet. You nailed it on this one. I have tons of strawberries in my freezer from when they were in season so I’m all set to make this tomorrow morning! YAY.

I know…if hubby thinks it is sweet enough…that says it right there. No sugar added!!
Donna
Oh wow, you managed to make this super creamy despite the fact that it doesn’t have any yogurt in there, yum! We love adding hemp hearts to our smoothies, they give such a great subtle nutty flavor. Great color btw

I definitely need more hemp hearts in my life! We bought a bag of them from Costco a while back and I could never figure out enough stuff to do with them. I love how creamy they make this smoothie though. Maybe we’ll get ourselves another bag. 🙂
Homemade & Yummy
Yup, we get them at Costco too…very affordable for sure.

Ya know, I actually spotted a very affordable bag of hemp hearts at Aldi yesterday, but I didn’t grab it because I had no clue what to do with them! Dangit! Guess I’m heading back to the store, so I can make this smoothie ASAP! 🙂
Homemade & Yummy
Well, there you go. Now you know…but there are LOTS of ways to use them. I can eat them by the handful for a quick and nutritious snack too.
Annissa
Hemp hearts are my new favorite thing to sprinkle over yogurt and on salads. I hadn’t thought to try them in a smoothie until now. What a healthy and flavorful way to get some added nutrition.
Homemade & Yummy
No protein powder needed when you have yourself a bag of hemp hearts.
Dana
This is right up my alley! I’ve been looking for different green smoothies since I usually stick to my go-to. But a change is nice once in a while, and hemp hearts are so nutritious. I can’t wait to add this to my rotation.
Homemade & Yummy
ENJOY…this is super easy to make and super nutritious to drink.
Stef
I typically like smoothies with yogurt. But, I’m all for trying your yogurt-free smoothie. It sounds great! You cracked me up about wishing smoothie making could be a workout. Maybe, if we used a mortar and pestle and did it all by hand it could count. But, it would probably never get smooth. 🙂
Homemade & Yummy
HAHHA….well that is a thought…and still would be more fun than working out!!

This is just the beverage I need to start my day. I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish and the weather certainly hasn’t helped. I’ll be going to our local market that carries lots of fresh fruits and they carry nutritious items such as the hemp hearts. Luckily, we are going to Costco this morning and I’ll check there first.
Homemade & Yummy
This is super easy to make at home, and you can make it exactly the way you like. Get those HEMP HEARTS at Coscto.
Mimi
I don’t think I had an official New Year’s resolutions moment but I do want to have one now! And the first thing I am going to put on the list is: drink more healthy smoothies – just like this one!
Homemade & Yummy
This will help with your resolutions for sure. Healthy eating!!

Nice color and healthy – just the type of a smoothie I have been looking for! And having that spinach work its magic is just an incredible bonus that is hard to overestimate.
Homemade & Yummy
I but spinach in as many things as I can…so good.
Carmy
I love a good green smoothie to start off the day! I actually really love throwing in a tbsp of hemp hearts in my smoothies because they’re so packed with nutrient and don’t alter the taste of the smoothies. I always grab a scoopful of them when I’m at Bulk Barn!
Homemade & Yummy
Yes we love adding hemp hearts to lots of things too.
