The weather is getting cooler. Fall is here, and the holidays are just around the corner.

When we cook the whole bird, there are lots of great recipes to use up that leftover turkey. This cold wrap recipe is great for brunch, lunch or dinner.

What Exactly Are Cheese Curds?
If you have never had the pleasure of tasting these little gems of deliciousness, you are really missing out. I am a cheese fanatic, and curds are great on their own, but also great in any recipe that calls for cheese.
A young cheddar that is separated from the whey instead of being molded into a block or wheel of cheese.
They have a mild taste, are firm in texture and the real tip to freshness is the squeak they make against your teeth when you bite into them. You really want to experience fresh curds.
I am fortunate to live close to the Sargent Family Dairy. They make fresh curds every Monday. We get to enjoy that fresh squeaky texture, and these curds are not over the top salty like most of the curds you find in the grocery stores.
They also have the most delicious chocolate milk I have ever tasted, thanks to the Jersey cows on their farm. I can’t wait to try the butter and cheese that they will be producing in the future.
After visiting the farm, I was surprised to find out a few interesting facts about Jersey cows.
- They are smaller in size than most regular cows. Therefore they consume less feed and water, can live in smaller barns, and produce less waste. All in all a smaller carbon footprint which is better for the environment.
- Jersey milk has more protein, calcium, phosphorous and vitamin B12 than regular milk.
How Long Do Cheese Curds Last?
Eating them fresh is best. They will last in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Do Cheese Curds Melt?
Yes, they sure do. Perfect on poutine, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches and more.
