Coloured cauliflowers are so pretty. Curried Orange Cauliflower Blender Soup is so EASY!

Combine roasted cauliflower with a few simple ingredients. Blitz and enjoy it! Homemade soup is not difficult, and this easy cauliflower blender soup is sure to please.

Have you made blender soups before? Honestly, your family will think you have spent the day in the kitchen. What a great way to produce delicious soups in a matter of minutes.

Comfort food season is here. One of the most delicious of all. Warm bowls of chili, soup, curry, and stew to wrap my hands around. In fact, I have HUGE mugs that we love to use this time of year.

RECIPE and INSTRUCTIONS for this curried cauliflower soup can be found at the bottom of this post.

For me, the best way to cook cauliflower is roasting. It adds so much depth and works great in so many recipes.

Easy Roasted Cauliflower Soup is one of our family favourites. With orange cauliflower available at the markets, I thought a new quick and easy soup was a great idea.

We also love Easy Roasted Pumpkin Soup too. Can you see a colour theme here?

    Orange Cauliflower Soup Ingredients

    • roasted orange cauliflower (one large head)
    • coconut milk
    • chicken broth
    • curry powder
    • curry flavoured olive oil

Be sure to check out the suggestions and recipe tips below.

    Preparing Curried Cauliflower Blender Soup

With a few simple ingredients, this easy-to-make blender soup is ready to eat before you know it. Full instructions are in the recipe card below.

A sheet pan of orange cauliflower pieces right out of the ovenPin
    1. Cut up the cauliflower (saving a few pieces for garnish) and coat with curry oil, season with curry powder, salt, and pepper.
    2. Roast in the oven until tender. (Remember, like I mentioned before this can be done AHEAD of time).
    3. Place the baked cauliflower in the blender. Pulse to break up slightly, then add ALL the other ingredients. Easy right?
    4. Blitz until smooth. If you have a soup setting choose that. If not, once the soup is to your desired “smoothness” level, pour it into a pot and heat it.
    5. That’s it! The soup is ready. Fill the bowls and dig in! Homemade soup does not have to be complicated or time-consuming to taste delicious.

BONUS TIP! The best part of this soup is that you can actually roast the cauliflower in the oven ahead of time (like on the weekend). Everything goes into the blender when you are ready to make the soup. FASTER than pizza delivery.

    Suggestions/Recipe Tips

Curry oil can be replaced with any cooking oil you like. I love the additional level of flavour it adds to the dish.

Curry powder can be really hot. Adjust according to your taste.

Broth is your choice. Chicken, beef, or if you want it to be vegan use vegetable broth.

Orange cauliflower is the star of this pureed soup, but purple and white will work as well. Remember the bonus tip, roasting the cauliflower can be done ahead of time.

Store in a sealed container in the fridge. This pureed soup will last for several days.

Reheat in a pot on the stove, or in bowls in the microwave.

    Alternative Ways to Blend Soup

You will need a good blender. Here is where I thank my husband for getting me a (affiliate) Vitamix. With the “soup setting”. I just place all the ingredients in the blender, and in minutes the soup is hot and ready to eat. SO EASY!

Any good quality blender will blitz these ingredients into a creamy soup. If you don’t have a soup setting, don’t fret. Just blitz your ingredients and warm the soup in a pot. It will still taste YUMMY, with only one extra step.

Do you have an (affiliate) immersion blender? Another super handy kitchen gadget. I use is ALL the time to make silky smooth mashed potatoes.

Place all your ingredients in a pot. Blend and heat. This is ALMOST a one-pot meal!

Of course, you can still make a delicious soup by using a (affiliate) potato masher. Place the roasted cauliflower in a large pot. Add all the other ingredients. Heat through and mash. You won’t have a creamy texture, but you WILL have a healthy cauliflower soup.

    FAQ’s

    Is orange cauliflower natural?

Do you know the story behind it? Saveur calls it an “alien vegetable”. Apparently, it was discovered in Canada in 1970. Woohoo! We are famous for poutine, so being famous for cheddar cauliflower (another name for it) is a feather in our cap.

    Is orange cauliflower genetically modified?

It is a mixture of heirloom varieties. The colour comes from the extra beta-carotene in the florets.

    How does coloured cauliflower taste?

It has a mild sweet taste and has the same texture as the white variety.

We enjoy all kinds of cauliflower recipes. They are healthy and delicious. There are many great ways to enjoy it. From appetizers to main courses, and as a nutritious snack with dips.

Don’t let the harvest season go by without tasting the flavours of fall. We happen to think this is one of the best cauliflower soup recipes.

The Vitamix truly is a thing of magic. I make all of my creamy soups in there! They always come out so velvety and smooth 🙂
I love that you used orange cauliflower in this one. Orange and purple heads of cauli always stand out to me at the market—they’re so gorgeous! Also love that the cauliflower gets a nice roasting before being blended into soup. I started doing this a while back and it really does enrich the flavor.

I had no idea that there was such a thing as orange cauliflower so when I saw this post, I was thinking that you were going to roast oranges and use them in a cauliflower soup. Hah! Now, I’m off to seek out an orange cauliflower so I can try this! Soup sounds perfect on this crisp fall day.

They are a little harder to find….but so worth the effort. This soup will also work with regular white cauliflower…just not look as cool.

I’ve always liked cauliflower, but it wasn’t until I started roasting and caramelizing it that I really learned to LOVE cauliflower. That goes double for soups and other recipes made out of it. You just build up so much more flavour by working this way! I haven’t done anything with orange cauliflower in a while, but I always enjoy playing with it (and purple cauliflower, and romanesco). Thanks for the great recipe!

Wait a minute. You can heat soup right in the vitamix? How did I not know this? Now I know what is going on my Christmas list! Because I love cauliflower, I love trying new versions of veggies, and I love creamy curried soups. In other words, when’s dinner? 😉

I have never seen orange cauliflower before! In fact, only recently have I discovered purple cauliflower…unfortunately my local market doesn’t quite have a large variety but I think this soup sounds absolutely delicious no matter the color! The ease of throwing it all in the blender is perfect for busier evenings. Looks delicious, Gloria!

I love the soup function on the Vitamix! I’m not very good at babysitting a pot of thick soup since they stick to the bottom easier so using the Vitamix is a great alternative to making soup. I think I’ll have to make a batch and freeze for the month! Yum

It is not that easy to find, but is a nice switch from the traditional white variety.
