Keeping cool in the hot summer sun is easy and delicious with this No Sugar Added Cherry Lime Slushy. All it takes is 3 simple ingredients.

This post was kindly sponsored by Vitamix. All recipes, opinions, and photos are my own.

Is it hot where you are? I don’t know what is taking summer so long to make an appearance. The weather here has been so rainy and cool. We are lucky to get 1 day in 4 with sunshine at the moment. Flowers are planted, BBQ is ready, so bring on the HOT weather already.

You know what will happen once the temperature rises right? Lots of people will be complaining that it is TOO HOT!! You will never satisfy everyone, but I know I am anxious to see the sun and warmer weather.

    DO YOU OWN A VITAMIX?

I will be the first to admit, it was my awesome hubby that did the research on high-end blenders. He was tired of drinking “chunky” smoothies and knew the answer was a new blender. After hours of reading reviews and watching YouTube videos, his choice was Vitamix. I was not going to stop him from getting me a new fun kitchen toy, that’s for sure!

Now his smoothies are perfectly smooth! No more lumps and chunks that get caught in the straw. My Vanilla Bean Smoothie seems to be a favourite of ours right now. However, Hemp Chocolate Smoothie with Raspberries & Pomegranates is a close second for sure.

Once you own an awesome blender like this, it doesn’t stop with smoothies. Soups are one of my favourite things to make. So fast and easy, people will think you have been standing over a simmering pot all day.

If you don’t believe me, my recipe for Easy Roasted Cauliflower Blender Soup with Smoked Paprika should convince you.

    HOT WEATHER, COLD DRINKS

Now that summer is almost officially here, time to blend up some cool summer drinks. When Vitamix contacted me and asked if I would like to try their new Personal Cup Adapter, I said “send it on down”. Let’s have some fun in the kitchen giving this a test drive.

When it comes to staying hydrated in the summer, sugar is not what I am looking for. I will drink MAYBE 6 bottles of organic root beer in a YEAR!! Yup, a year. I can’t handle all the sugar, it makes me feel sick and doesn’t quench my thirst either.

Flavoured water, homemade ice tea (minus all the sugar) are my drinks of choice. I go through gallons of watermelon juice. Such a delicious and healthy way to stay hydrated in the hot weather.

When you have a Vitamix, turning fruit into juice is simple.

With the Personal Cup Adapter, your full-size Vitamix turns into personal-size blender. With 2 (20 ounces) BPA free, double insulated cups, taking drinks on the go is easy, and they stay cool in the hot weather too.

When I want one kind of smoothie, and hubby wants another, with this adapter, our customized choices are ready in minutes. It’s like having your own smoothie bar!!

Now, back to my story of hot weather and cool drinks. Throwing some simple ingredients into this cup produces awesome results. Ice, frozen cherries, and fresh lime juice make the most delicious slushy you can imagine.

You can sweeten if you wish, but the cherries do it for me. Topping your drink with a bit of sparkling water gives it a bit of fizz.

***ADULT ALERT** If you don’t like store-bought coolers because of the sugar content (like me), adding some vodka, rum, tequila, gin or even wine, is all you need…party on!!

My hemp smoothie recipe is another great blender drink. Diary-free, sugar-free, gluten-free. This is the perfect plant-based recipe for vegans.

What is your favourite summer drink?

I’m all about adding that booze! This slushy looks amazing! A great way to get some fruit in, too?

I would not have a Vitamix if it was not for hubby. He did the research….and we made the final decision.
