A simple toasted bagel is all you need for a quick meal. Perfect for busy mornings, or when you just don’t feel like cooking.

No need to pay the high prices at the coffee shop. These deli style bagels are so easy to make.

Make the perfect deli style simple toasted bagel at home. Top with your favourite spreads. The ultimate breakfast, lunch or snack.

What is your favourite type of bagel? Everything, cheese, multigrain, chocolate chip or blueberry? The choices are endless. Honestly I have not come across a flavour I didn’t like.

Do you prefer New York style bagels or Montreal bagels? Yes there is a difference. New York bagels are usually smaller, have a larger hole in the middle and chewy texture.

Montreal bagels on the other hand are dense, have a small hole in the middle and are a little sweeter because they are cooked in honey water.

Bagels are so versatile. You can simply toast them (or not) and add your favourite spread. Great for a quick and easy meal. I wish I had a great bagel shop near by, fresh bagels are the best. I have to rely on the grocery store bakery, lucky for me they are a great second option.

    Bagel for toasting.

If you really want to turn them into something special, just like you would get at the deli, this smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel is so good. Makes a quick lunch or dinner. During the summer, a cucumber bagel sandwich is just what you need on a hot day. Great for enjoying on the patio for brunch or lunch.

    Make The Perfect Toasted Bagel

Honestly this is so easy, even my grandkids enjoy making these.

    Bagel Toppings

There are endless things you can put on a bagel.

    • Butter
    • Peanut or nut free butters.
    • Jams, jellies or preserves of any kind.
    • Cream cheese of any flavour.
    • Hummus
    • Dips or guacamole
    • Turn them into sandwiches with meat, seafood, cheese, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato.

    Suggestions / Recipe Tips

    • Use any flavour of bagel you like. You can even make this without toasting the bagel.
    • Any topping works, and the choices are endless.
    • The amount of toppings or spreads are optional, you can use more or less.

Best Way To Toast A Bagel

You can eat bagels without toasting, and I often do, however there is something so satisfying when you toast them. A great way to elevate the flavours and textures. The crispy outside and soft chewy inside make them irresistible.

    Easy bagel meal idea.
    • Simply pop them in a toaster.
    • Use a toaster oven which allows for even heating and the ability to toast several at a time.
    • You can use the broiler setting in the oven as well, but be sure to watch them closely so they do not burn.
    • Toast them on the stovetop with a griddle or frying pan. Similar to making a grilled cheese sandwich.
    • Use an air fryer.
