Gourmet popcorn is so easy to make.  This Maple Bacon Popcorn is a family favourite.  Skip the store bought stuff and make great tasting popcorn at home.

Who doesn’t love a movie night.  Sitting down relaxing and watching some great movies, the perfect way to end a busy week.  Of course you need awesome snacks, and this Maple Bacon Popcorn is just what you are looking for.

Gourmet popcorn has become such a craze.  Who would have thought that there could be so many interesting flavours.  No need to eat plain popcorn anymore (unless you really want to).  With a few simple ingredients you can create your family favourites too.  There is no need to pay high prices at the popcorn shops.  Get yourself a hot air popper and make it fresh at home.

We love using our Cuisinart hot air popper.  Making popcorn is fast and easy, so fresh popcorn is always only minutes away.  If you are looking for a fat free snack, then this is the way to go.  No oil or butter needed to pop the corn, so if you don’t add any toppings this is the perfect healthy snack.

Now speaking of toppings, the choice here is endless!!  With all the flavoured oils, spices and herbs in your kitchen, you can create just about any flavour you can think of. That is how this delicious popcorn was invented.  With a little imagination you will soon become the popcorn queen/king and everyone will want to watch movies at your house (or ask you to bring the popcorn to their house).

For this popcorn I used bacon flavoured olive oil, maple sugar and salt.  That’s it!!  These few simple ingredients added to a bowl of freshly popped corn was a HUGE hit with my husband, in fact he couldn’t stop eating it.  I really cannot count the number of times he has already told me this is his favourite!!

Making popcorn at home is very economical too.  For every ½ cup of kernels you get about 12 cups of popcorn.  Not bad, and if you buy your kernels in bulk you can make enough popcorn to feed an army.  Believe me once you start making your own gourmet popcorn there is no turning back, store bought stuff just won’t impress like this tasty snack does.

Once I popped the kernels I just added the oil, sugar and salt, gave it a really good few tosses and it was ready to go.  The one thing I really do love is that you can make this just before you start watching your movies (then you get the whole movie theatre experience with the aroma of fresh popcorn), BUT if you know you are going to be busy, you can make this ahead of time.

Yes I really love this idea, especially if you are in charge of bringing the snacks to your friends house for movie night.  Pop your kernels, add your toppings, toss and place in a plastic bowl with a really good sealing cover.  Your popcorn will stay fresh, in fact it stayed fresh for a few days.  What a great time saving idea!!

Elevate your next movie night experience from here, to HERE. Make some of this Maple Bacon Popcorn and grab your favourite beverage (ours happens to be root beer). Have you ever tried Real Brew?  Got to have gourmet drinks along with the gourmet popcorn.  Enjoy your evening!!

Looking for more movie night food options, try Greek Nachos with Creamy Hummus, or for a hot beverage a Chocolate Milk Latte will hit the spot!!

Yum! Every time I think I’ll make gourmet popcorn, I wait until after the popcorn is finished to decide what toppings to add, and then panic and just do oil and salt haha. This sounds fairly easy though- this might help me get over my deer-in-the-headlights panic over toppings lol

I am going to have to be on the lookout for bacon flavored olive oil. Wow that looks good. My son just got his braces off so he’s going to be eating a lot of popcorn to miss out on the two years he had none.

What a wonderful snack and oh so versatile. We are huge popcorn eaters although we do try to limit ourselves cuz we can go overboard. How can you possibly go wrong with delicious flavors like bacon and maple — YUM. I’m looking forward to our next popcorn snack. Thanks for sharing.
