Who says fries can’t be healthy? Crispy Spicy Fries sure are. These spicy homemade chips are crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, all with a hint of heat.

Save yourself some calories and all the mess of deep-fried food. These are the best air fryer french fries. They produce a cleaner taste with minimal oil.

Crispy golden brown spicy fries cooked in the air fryer.

Fries in the air fryer taste just as good as traditional ones made in oil. This seasoned fries recipe is sure to please. They are crispy golden brown with a spicy kick. Lighter and less greasy, retaining more of the natural potato flavour.

Are you a potato lover? I AM, and so is my daughter. Her favourite is potato salad, a must at her birthday celebration each year.

I love crispy cast-iron potatoes. The perfect side to brunch or dinner. Spicy potato wedges are great too.

If you are looking for the ultimate casserole, Sweet Potato Au Gratin is it. Scalloped sweet potatoes covered in a cream sauce, topped with cheese. YES, please!!

Now, when it comes to french fries, these are in a league all their own. Crispy, golden brown and soft in the middle.

Covered in ketchup, salsa or gravy. The perfect side to burgers and fish. NEVER eaten with a fork, unless you are eating Canadian poutine! These are the best crispy fries we have eaten.

Potatoes getting cut to make the spicy fries.

Air Fryer Fries With Minimal Ingredients

Not many things are needed for these easy homemade fries.

    • fresh potatoes
    • oil (I used avocado)
    • spicy seasoning
    • salt ( I used smoked sea salt)

The best way to get all the crunch without all the oil is by using an air fryer. Deep-fried french fries, certainly are an occasional treat. This crispy homemade fries recipe is the perfect alternative. Now we can enjoy them more often.

I have some AWESOME air fryer recipes:

    • Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings
    • Air Fryer Fish Cakes
    Fries getting seasoned before cooking.

    How To Make Spicy Fries

    1. Wash and cut your potatoes into sticks (you don’t even have to peel them).
    2. Toss with a bit of oil (I used avocado).
    3. Season with some spicy heat.
    4. Cook in the the air fryer.

Did you get that? 1 TABLESPOON of oil to make these quick and easy spicy fries in the air fryer. How healthy is that? Added BONUS, clean up is a breeze.

    Fries in the air fryer.

I can cook a batch of fries in about 22-25 minutes. If you are feeding a crowd, no problem. Heat your oven to a nice low temperature, and keep the batches warm while the rest are cooking.

    Spicy Seasonings

We love spicy foods. There are lots of ways to spice up your fries, and different seasonings can influence the flavour. Here are a few suggestions:

    • chili powders
    • cayenne
    • *(affiliate) smoked paprika
    • *(affiliate) sriracha
    • red pepper flakes
    • *(affiliate) buffalo wing seasoning
    • spicy pepper blends

You can have fun experimenting. Combine several spices to create your very homemade seasoning blend.

This air-fried potato recipe is a healthy alternative to deep-frying, so you can enjoy homemade french fries more often.

I’ve never heard of the ActiFry, but if those fries taste even remotely as good as they look I’m guessing they’re amazing!!

I’ve been thinking about an Actifry since they came out, but couldn’t justify another kitchen gadget (sound familiar???). Fried food is the bomb but we are trying to be healthier this year. Your fries look amazing!

Yum… I love fries cooked at home and I think the spicy outside and soft center is my kind of fry. Perfect for game day this weekend.

Those fries look crunchy and tasty. My blogging friend Joanne from What’s On The List has both an air fryer and a thermomix and I’m always amazed at the wonderful food she makes without her stove 🙂
