Do you love olives? We sure do around here. We use them in pasta dishes, dips and always have them on pizza. Whole olives, sliced olives, or even stuffed olives seem to find their way into tasty dishes in our house.
The fantastic thing about olives is that they are one of those “good for you foods”, which makes me want to eat them more. Olives have health benefits that include anti-cancer compounds to help fight against colon, breast and skin cancer. They are a natural pain reducer that helps with inflammation and arthritis pain. Olives are “heart healthy” and help reduce blood pressure.
Sofia’s Selection kindly sent some wonderful products my way to sample. I was more than happy to give them a try. I am always up to trying new things, especially food!
Sofia’s Selection Tapenade is truly an artisan product that is handcrafted in small batches. Much lower in salt then competitive brands, and comes in a variety of flavours including Roasted Garlic, Roasted Red Pepper, Roasted Sweet Onion and Roasted Serrano Pepper.
I was sent both the Roasted Garlic and Roasted Serrano Pepper. This was great since it gave me the opportunity to try both savoury and spicy. We like spicy food here so I was really keen on trying the Roasted Serrano Pepper.
Since these tasty little jars arrived just in time for the weekend, adding them to a charcuterie board was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Often we make up one of these to go along with a glass of wine or two, as my husband and I spend some quality time relaxing and having a chat.
The first thing we did notice about the Sofia’s Selection Tapenade is how much less salty this product was over others we have had in the past. We found you could really taste the olives instead of the salt.
The Roasted Garlic had the perfect touch of garlic both in taste and aroma. My husband in not a garlic fan in taste or smell. He had no issues eating this tapenade. Not over powering and paired great with the goat cheese.
The Roasted Serrano Pepper had a nice kick of heat. Not too much, but just enough to know that it is there as you felt in on the back of your tongue. The devilled eggs were delicious with a dollop of this on top.
As we were sitting and truly enjoying our little afternoon treat, we talked about other ways these little jars of goodness were going to make their way into our meals. I know the next time we are making pizza these tapenades will be on there for sure. Pasta, chicken, and dips will be getting a little taste test too.
If you are looking to try some quality artisan tapenade, I highly recommend Sofia’s Selection. With the busy holiday season just around the corner, your entertaining just got a whole lot tastier!!
