What Does Infuse Mean?
By definition infuse means to steep something in a liquid to extract flavour. Soaking the leaves of a plant or herb in liquid.
Infused products add flavours to cooking and wonderful scents to creams, oils, candles and more.
How Does The LEVO II Work?
If you have ever tried to make any type of herbal infusion in the past, it can be a messy experience.
LEVO II allows you to get great results without all the mess. All the parts are dishwasher safe. The machine is easy to use, and cleanup is a breeze.
The patented technology uses a gentle infusion method. No additives, solvents, or emulsifiers are needed in your preparation. Healthy ingredients produce healthy results.
There are 3 cycles, INFUSE, DRY, and ACTIVATE. Drying herbs removes moisture and preserves flavours. Does LEVO II decarb? Yes, the Activate cycle allows you to decarboxylate botanicals.
For my LEVO II review, I used the INFUSE cycle.
I followed the instructions in the Quick Start Guide that comes with the machine.
First I washed the components that include:
- Ceramic Coated Reservoir
- Herb Pod
- Silicone Stirrer
- Pod Protector
All the parts are dishwasher safe, or you can wash them by hand.
NOTE** Be sure to always use the RELEASE button to remove and also to put the reservoir in place. To do this, the machine MUST be turned on.
Now comes the fun part, infusing the butter. Such a simple process.
- Plugin the machine, press, and hold the power button to turn it on.
- Open the lid.
- Remove the herb pod.
- I placed some loose tea in the herb pod. Since I was only infusing, and not drying I did not use the pod protector.
- I placed the herb pod into the reservoir along with the magnetic silicone stirrer.
- Next, I poured some melted butter into the reservoir.
- After closing the lid I chose the INFUSE cycle.
- I used the default setting of 175ºF for 2 ½ hours and pressed START. You can also control the time and temperature if you wish to change it.
The machine was super quiet during the whole process. Once the time was complete, I placed a glass bowl under the dispenser and pressed the button. The infused butter drained into the bowl.
I removed the components, washed them, and placed them back in the machine. All ready for my next herbal infusion. Now my next project is to make a delicious recipe with my tea-infused butter.
I would have to say the process was straight forward. There really is no guesswork involved other than the amount of herbs you place in the pod. The guide gives you suggestions on how much to use.
You can also control the machine remotely by downloading the LEVO app to your phone.
