In reply to Brenda Jamieson. Fiddleheads are super delicious. I have had frozen ones as well, but fresh is best for sure. Roasting them is super easy, and tasty too. ENJOY!

My husband and I pick fiddleheads every spring. What we don’t eat fresh I blanche them and freeze them. But if we want to eat some fresh for a longer period of time we place them in a large pail and fill with cold water to cover them. We keep them in a cool place and we drain and change the water every two to three days. They can keep fresh for close to a month as long as you remember to change the water. We love fiddleheads. Will try your recipe next spring when we pick fresh. Gave you five stars only because the recipe looks delicious.

This was a great recipe – my fiddleheads were very small so it only took 10 minutes to roast them. So important to get the brown papery stuff off the fiddleheads – otherwise they can be bitter. Thanks!

In reply to Carol. I have never tried to cook them in the air fryer. I would think it would be fine.

I grew up in New Brunswick. Probably sixty five years ago and our dad used to take us out as small kids and get us to help him pick them. I’ve always loved them. I am in ontario now and they had them today in the grocery store. I will try this recipe but I was wondering if you could cook them in the air fryer as well.

Do you need to blanch fiddle heads before roasting?

I had an overload of cherry tomatoes so I added them with the fiddleheads roasting them together. Needless to say my family and myself have some very happy taste buds

In reply to DebtheBee. When I was a kid, my mom forged for fiddleheads too.
