Who says fries can’t be healthy? These Crispy Spicy Fries are just what they say….crispy on the outside, spiced with smokey heat….and NOT deep fried!! Sounds healthy to me.
I don’t know about your house, but we do love fries here. Crispy, golden brown…soft in the middle. Covered in ketchup, gravy, salsa…or used for dipping in aioli. It’s the perfect combo to burgers, fish or even omelettes. Poutine needs awesome fries too.
Since regular deep fried french fries are something you can’t really eat on a regular basis, we prefer to make homemade fries that are healthier. In the past we have done oven fries, but the last couple of years this is our “go to” method over and over again.
A couple of years ago we put an ActiFry on our Christmas list (or at least I did). I will admit my husband rolled his eyes and asked “Do we really need another cooking thing?”. I just laughed and said YES!! If you ask him now what is one of his favourite things to use….he will say the ActiFry. This is also his go to appliance when cooking sausages for breakfast.
Using the ActiFry is so easy and the results are incredible. Basically cut your potatoes into fries, coat with a small amount of oil, season, place in the ActiFry, set the timer and go do something else while these little gems cook away. When the timer goes…they are ready to eat. Simple, fast, healthy fries are only minutes away.
We love spicy food, so we use lots of different chili powders and smoked paprikas to obtain the wonderful heat and flavour on these awesome fries.
Seriously these fries rock. My grandson just loves when I make a batch just for him (no spice since he is only 3). I make lots so he can take some leftovers home too.
If you have never looked at an ActiFry, perhaps adding one to your “wish list” might be a good idea. Sure glad we (I) did!!
